July Product Awesomeness!

Did you know that the month of July is named for Julius Caesar? It used to be called Quintilis! But, after Caesar’s death, the month Quintilis (fifth) was renamed July in honor of Julius Caesar in 44 BC. And none of that has anything to do with anything. It’s just interesting.

We are super excited to bring you a new product release. It has alot of change, but you might not notice because many of the new items are oriented toward a better onboarding experience for newbies. You veterans will be able to tell stories about the old days on Fitli. Like walking to school in snow uphill both ways.

Don’t worry, there are some goodies for everybody. We are hitting the Customers section, Reporting, Purchase Flow, and more. We’re also squashing a bunch of pesky little bugs. Read on and find out what’s what.

- Reformatted the list of categories in business profile (and signup)
- Update text on cancel/remove block time events
- Update portal to allow the user to see packages before asking for login

- Fix bug in the checkout process that would ‘submit’ after switching from the ‘cash’ or ‘other’ payment source back to ‘card’

- Increasing session count for a qty of sessions no longer updates the purchase date to the current day.

Auto-renew Failure Warning

You know those emails you get that you start ignoring after day 2. Now, there will be a visual cue in several spots to let you know you have a failing auto-renew package or membership.

Creation of a new client category called ‘Lead’ for any personal account that signs up or logs in on your business portal but does not purchase or book yet. Once they purchase or book, they will automatically conver to ‘Client’.

As a general rule, sessions come from packages or memberships. The details about the sessions such as quantity, expiration date, and applicable products are defined by the master package or membership in the Product section. Quantity and Expiration date are both editable by the business. Until now, applicable products has not been. This has been a problem for Drop In cancellations. When a user books via a drop in, then withdraws or the business cancels the session, they get a credit. That credit is applicable to the exact same type of session and only that session. Often users want to use the credit for other classes or appointments. Now they can. The business user can edit a session or group of sessions to change the applicable product(s). The changes will apply only for that client and for that line item.

Simply put, we will now show you who canceled an auto renewing membership and when it was done.

Birthday Icon on the Customer List

We’d already added the birthday icon on the Sesson Profile. Now extending that to the Customer list. Basically, if a client has a birthday within 2 weeks either direction of the current date, we will show the birthday icon. The tooltip shows the actual birth date.

Apply Promo Code

Promo codes are not new. What’s new is the ability to enter and ‘Apply’ a promo code on the checkout screen. If a promo code brings the cost to zero, then we skip ahead to confirmation. No credit card info required. That one has been out there for a while. It will also update the price with the discount from the promo code immediately.

Additional Payment Sources

We are not adding any major new functionality here. This is simply additional options for a business to choose during checkout. It will show up on the sales report. Each item will have a text field for notes as well; same as ‘cash’ and ‘other’ do today. New Payment Sources

Credit Card Processing Optional during Sign Up

Since we launched way back in February of 2016, we have activated Credit Card Processing right up front during Business registration. Recognizing that was the best experience for clients engaging with Fitli, we assumed everybody would want it. That’s generally the case, but asking for Tax Id and Bank Info right up front feels like an overreach to some who choose not to proceed with a Free Trial for that reason. Going forward, Credit Card Processing is optional during sign up and can be added later. However, that also means we must curtail certain capabilities on the site. That is what most of the changes in this update relate to.

ToolTips

We are adding a new way to provide in context help by adding a new type of tooltip onto the page. It’s only in a few spots now, but it will expand over time. This is designed for quick and simple bits of advice or explanation.

The name is pretty self explanatory. You are able to set customers to active or inactive in the customer list. This will include or exclude those customers from the account balances report.

Generate a link to any session to share with clients

You could do this before in a round about way. Now you just click on a button and the link will be copied. Share it via fb, email, or whatever. Clients will come directly to the client view of that session.
